Karat

Stamped inside the piece

9.16 g of fine gold

10 g of 22K is 91.6% gold: about 9.16 g of fine gold.

Tested in front of you

Nothing leaves your sight: the test, the weighing and the credit are worked out on the counter.
  1. Tested at the counter, in front of you

Before anything is weighed. The test gives the karat of each piece.

  2. Weighed, with stones, springs and other parts set aside

On the counter scale, where you can see it. Only the gold counts towards the weight.

  3. Credited at the day’s rate for its karat, against a new piece

Making charges and VAT apply to the new piece, as on any purchase.

Questions about exchanging old gold

What if I have no receipt?

You do not need one. We test the gold itself, so the credit is worked out from its karat and weight; bring the pieces, any receipts you have and your Emirates ID or passport.

How is the purity tested?

At the counter, in front of you, before anything is weighed. The test gives the karat of each piece, and the credit is worked out from that karat and the day’s rate for it. Stones, springs and any non-gold parts are set aside and excluded from the gold weight.

Can I exchange jewellery bought elsewhere?

Ask before you come. We test any gold at the counter, but whether the exchange terms cover pieces bought from another shop is confirmed in store, and a promotion running at the time can change them.
